| Loxcreen Adding Capacity, Jobs | ||||
| Loxcreen Alumnium Group
on Friday announced a two-phased expansion of its Roxboro operation that will add about a dozen jobs at the company's facility on Old Durham Road. Loxcreen, with headquarters in West Columbia, S. C., issued a news release saying the company will complete the expansion of the anodizing line at the Roxboro plant in July. The company explained that anodizing is "an environmentally friendly electro-chemical process that produces an aluminum oxide film," which is extremely hard, durable and resistant to corrosion. The expanded Loxcreen capacity will provide convertible top frames for luxury automobiles. Glen Newsome, executive director of the Person County Economic Development Commission, said Loxcreen would develop the expansion in two phases, with the first phase adding six jobs and representing an investment of about $25,000. "The second phase would entail a doubling of both jobs and investment," Newsome said. Loxcreen has been operating from its current facility in Roxboro since 1968. It now employs 155 people there. In its announcement release, Loxcreen said, "Person County is extremely pro-business oriented and sees future growth and economic development as an asset to the community." Newsome commented, "With several potential plant locations to choose from, we are very pleased that Loxcreen has selected Roxboro and Person County as the host location for this new business line. The project has excellent growth potential both in terms of new jobs to be created as well as new capital investment. Loxcreen has been a solid employer throughout the years as well as an excellent corporate citizen. The Economic Development Commission looks forward to continuing its work with the company to bring this project to fruition." |
