An Artisan’s Emporium: A Business Built Through Collaboration
Our small business started with the idea that our community needed a retail space for local artisans and crafters. We met with groups and individuals in the community to discuss options, and in 2016, we took the plunge to open An Artisan's Emporium
Many pieces of needed support from the community were available to begin and sustain our journey. Our vision blended with the owners of Hall’s Way, a newly renovated retail building with space for small businesses in Uptown Roxboro. Networking with crafters and artists in the community found us people willing to consign with our business. We took classes at Piedmont Community College Small Business Center to fill in the gaps in our business experience. Volunteers stepped up to operate the store. The Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce, The Courier-Times, Person County Tourism Development Authority, Roxboro Area Merchants Association, Uptown Roxboro Group, Roxboro Savings Bank, Hyco Magazine, and The Carver Agency, were all ready and willing to help us start and stay in business.
The best resources are the people and businesses around you who use their talents, wisdom, and energy to support ideas that make our community a better place to live, work, and grow. Person County supported an opportunity to help us create a gift shop focused on the artisan products of our community and region. We are thrilled to be doing business here and look forward to continued success.
