The NC Carolina Core is the name for an economic development region that includes 19 counties and parts of adjacent counties in central North Carolina. NC Carolina Core is a branding initiative of the Piedmont Triad Partnership that began in 2018. In 2022, Person County EDC began using the NC Carolina Core brand.  Joining Person County in the NC Carolina Core are Alamance, Caswell, Cumberland, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin counties — along with parts of Johnston and Orange counties.  Carolina Core benefits for Person County EDC include:

  • Marketing the region to potential new companies/residents;

  • Working with site selectors to promote the region, its assets, and economic developers;

  • Providing additional interactions with officials from the N.C. Department of Commerce and Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina;

  • Assisting when needed with the EDC's client projects.

A talent attraction marketing campaign – “More in the Core” – is underway to attract more workers to move from other areas of the country and state to our region.
